It's Rio, baby!

I just love it when I have more time to spend in a new destination, especially if I wished for it for so long.
My trip to Rio was divided into two parts.... First came the sunny days, perfect time for the beach and a very good made up reason to buy new swimming suits. :)) For all the fashion lovers out there, you should check out this brand Salinas, so so pretty. And of course, don't forget about Havaianas. ;)
While walking along the beach and sitting in the warm the sand in Copacabana, I had 3 revelations:
1. I need to learn Portuguese
2. I should start surfing
3. Can I just live here on the beach forever?
I got to tell you that brazilians are gorgeous people. You might expect they all look like Adriana Lima and Christiano Ronaldo... And some actually do... But most of them are normal people with normal bodies still looking absolutely amazing. I was so fascinated. How do they do that? Turns out their secret is a high level of confidence and it is also contagious.
In terms of going out, we found this nice place called Belmonte. We got there pretty early in the evening and the restaurant was already packed. There were all these people (the gorgeous ones I told you above) standing outside the terrace, drinking beer and laughing. Such an incredible atmosphere. We waited more than a while for the table, but it was worth it. The food was amazing! Fyi, in Brazil, 5 minutes waiting actually means 30 minutes. :P
For our last day in Rio we had exciting plans: taking a long tour of the city, see Christ the redeemer and other fun, touristy stuff... However, it was cloudy and rainy the whole day... Obviously, paragliding and hang gliding were also out of the question and I got bummed about that :(.  So what other option we had options when the weather was not our friend, but we were in town for the Olympics? We went to see a (men) basketball game, of course. Australia vs Spain was a great match, we ended up having lots of fun. Too bad we couldn't stay for the final (Serbia vs US)... That was alright though, because we got to meet the Serbian basketball team on the flight back... But that is a totally different story...
More stories this time and less photos, hope you still enjoyed ^_^
Hugs, kisses and good vibes Rio style

Play date with baby elephants in Sri Lanka

Lately life surprises me a lot... mostly in a good way :)). Like a few days ago when I was supposed to visit Budapest, but instead I found myself heading to Colombo, Sri Lanka. So with all my plans of eating goulash and enjoying wine under the city lights vanished, I had to rethink my entertainment on this new territory.
A last minute decision was to visit Pinnawalla Elephant Orphanage  and it was the very best one.
I had no idea such a place existed and my curiosity was over the roof. I like to think that this is not the kind of place where the elephants are used for entertainment, so we were not allowed to touch them, give them a bath or ride them. We just admired these beautiful creatures from a distance.
One of the cutest things I have ever seen was bottle feeding the baby elephants and then taking all of them to the river for a bath. Near the river I made an adorable giant friend who loved bananas and kept photobombing my selfies, ha ha.
I have to admit, this was quite an experience. Happy kid ^_^

It's a colorful life in Melbourne

As you might noticed from my Instagram account, I am a big fan of this #Latergram trend... Therefore, I will try a later blogging thingy today because even though it's been two months since my trip to Melbourne, this place is too cool not to post about it.
Now you already know I am in love with Australia so I was crazy excited to visit my fourth city there. Yes, I am counting. :P
As always, I shall try to keep it short and sweet. The city is full of life with nice and creative people and their original sense of style, tiny little streets "dressed' in graffiti, cool hipster cafes, amazing markets, artsy events... Bottom line it's a real Hipster Land. I am in love!
Two things I enjoyed the most:

  • Shopping at Queen Victoria Market. This place makes shopping for food and wine way more fun than looking for shoes. Yes, I actually said that. :P
  • Wandering on the colorful streets... Which I always do when I travel.... However, this time was a bit different because Melbourne is one of the word's great street art capitals. The beauty and energy of this place is contagious. I was hooked. Here is a little guide to explore the city's best street art. I only wish I would have found this before my trip... But having to discover them all by myself was part of the fun. ^_^
Hopefully I manged to brighten your day with my colorful photos.
Have a good one, lovelies!
